Tammy Rivera recently sat down for a candid interview, finally opening up about her divorce from Waka Flocka, the truth about her daughter’s father, and clarifying her past comments about Nicki Minaj.
Her story is one of resilience, growth, and self-respect, and it’s clear why social media is buzzing about her revelations.
Tammy shared that her childhood in Baltimore was marked by struggle. Her mother battled addiction but always remained honest and accountable, teaching Tammy the importance of faith and perseverance.

Tammy’s father was incarcerated when she was just a baby, and her family moved frequently, facing poverty and instability. Despite these hardships, Tammy developed a strong sense of self-worth and determination, dreaming of becoming a singer and fashion designer from an early age.
Her journey into motherhood began with her high school sweetheart, whom she refers to as her daughter Charlie’s biological father. Tammy described their relationship as abusive—both verbally and physically. She recounted how the control and violence escalated over time, and how she eventually found the strength to leave for the sake of her daughter.
Co-parenting with Charlie’s father proved difficult; he continued to be emotionally abusive, undermining Charlie’s confidence and self-esteem. Tammy ultimately chose to protect her daughter, even defying court orders to prevent further harm. Charlie, now grown, has shown remarkable emotional intelligence, forgiving her father even though he never took accountability for his actions. Throughout it all, Tammy credits Waka Flocka for being a stable, loving presence in Charlie’s life, providing the safe space and support her biological father never could.
Tammy recalled first meeting Waka Flocka in Miami during spring break. Their chemistry was instant, and Waka pursued her relentlessly, even pulling up his tour bus outside her apartment.

Despite his fame as a rapper, Tammy was unfazed, having been approached by entertainers before. Their relationship moved quickly, and Tammy eventually relocated to Atlanta with her daughter, integrating into Waka’s world and family. She described her initial tension with Waka’s mother, Deb Antney, but emphasized that Deb always treated Charlie well, even during periods when she and Tammy weren’t speaking.
Tammy’s decision to join Love & Hip Hop Atlanta was motivated by her desire to build her own career and identity, not just be a housewife. She wanted to show she was a force in her own right, capable of creating businesses and contributing financially. However, reality TV also exposed the private struggles in her marriage, especially Waka’s infidelity.
Tammy was open about how cheating affected their relationship, explaining that she confronted Waka directly and gave him the option to be honest about what he wanted. Over time, the strain of unresolved issues and past hurts led Tammy to lose respect for Waka, and she realized she was no longer in love. Rather than stay and become bitter, Tammy chose to end the marriage gracefully, prioritizing their friendship and co-parenting relationship.

Tammy’s maturity is evident in her reflections. She doesn’t blame Waka entirely, acknowledging that she chose to stay and that both grew and changed over their decade together.
She wishes him well and believes whoever he’s with next will benefit from the growth they both experienced. Tammy is now happily in a new relationship with a man she describes as godly, supportive, and emotionally rich—qualities she values far more than material wealth.
Tammy also clarified past comments about Nicki Minaj, emphasizing that she never meant any disrespect and admires Nicki’s talent and success. Her story is a testament to healing, accountability, and the importance of self-worth.
Tammy Rivera’s journey reminds women everywhere that it’s possible to overcome adversity, leave toxic relationships, and find happiness on your own terms.
