Now, archaeologists have uncovered a remarkable discovery near the Sea of Galilee: an ancient Byzantine church with a beautifully preserved mosaic that offers powerful insight into how early Christians honored Peter, the chief of the apostles, and remembered the words of Jesus.

The Greek inscription honored Peter as “the chief of the apostles,” echoing Jesus’s words: “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 16:19).
