Reva Tims: Breaking Her Silence, Rebuilding Her Life

After years of silence, Reva Tims, the ex-wife of Pastor Zachery Tims, finally spoke out, sharing her journey through heartbreak, betrayal, and restoration. Her story challenges our assumptions about celebrity pastors, church leadership, and the true cost of ministry.

Reva and Zachery Tims met in Baltimore as passionate young believers. Zachery, a former drug dealer turned preacher, and Reva, raised in a Christian home, married and moved to Orlando to start a church.

Their vision was to reach the lost and broken. In 1996, they founded New Destiny Christian Center with just six members. Their sincerity drew thousands, and soon their congregation grew to over 8,000. Zachery became a Christian celebrity, appearing on national networks, while Reva co-pastored, managed the church, and raised their four children, including a son with cerebral palsy.

Behind the scenes, cracks formed. In 2007, news broke of Zachery’s affair with a stripper. Reva discovered multiple affairs and substance abuse. When she sought help from prominent pastors, she was told to “get over it” and prioritize the ministry.

Reva believed healing starts at home, but Zachery returned to the pulpit after only three months of counseling. Church leaders then asked Reva not to return, blaming her for the breakdown while welcoming Zachery back. Members, eager to restore their pastor, became enablers, leaving Reva isolated and rejected.

Instead of bitterness, Reva found God in a deeper way. After divorcing in 2009, she launched Majestic Life Ministries, committed to mentoring and motivating believers to live what she called the “majestic life.”

In 2011, tragedy struck again—Zachery was found dead in a New York hotel room from an accidental overdose of cocaine and heroin. Just a week earlier, he had apologized to Reva during a family trip, acknowledging his mistakes and expressing regret for not prioritizing his marriage.

In 2021, Reva found love again, marrying entrepreneur Robert J. Watkins. Her story is one of resilience, faith, and transformation. She teaches that celebrity culture has no place in the church, family must come before ministry, and enablement is not love. Restoration requires time and customized approaches. The rejected can become the restored, and speaking up matters.
